Solar Backup Systems
SECURITY AND DIVERSITY
Want a Solar Backup System? Want to have a renewable energy system for your home? Want to stop paying such high costs for electric power from your utility? Want the added security of a diverse electric system? Then let us design a custom system for your home!
Our power systems offer a diverse battery backup to the utility grid. These systems have many options from solar PV generation, wind energy, propane or natural gas generator backup, Hydro or a combination of any of these. We have a long standing reputation for reliable backup power. Our systems are designed to last for decades with warranties on solar panels 25 years or more.
Here is how they work. Your solar panels will generate power for your home during the day. Depending on the amount of power generated, will depend on if the solar can send excess energy to the utility grid. In many cases our customer partners will send power to their utility and the utility will give them credit. This excess is known as net metering.
If the utility power fails and there is a power outage, there is nothing this homeowner needs to do other than turn the lights on because they will still have power in their home!! The power that is supplied from this system comes from the battery bank and is charged from the solar panels, wind turbine, hydro generator or other method of power generation. Depending on the load and the amount of solar power generation will depend on how long the system will keep running and supplying power to the home or business. In many cases the power can last for many days or weeks!
Prices for these systems can vary greatly and range from $2,000 up to $30,000 depending on how complex, diverse and how much stand by power you want. Since most of these systems are grid connected, you maybe able to get tax credits or incentives on your installed system. They can also be used as an off-grid application for a remote cabin, cottage, or home that has no way of getting electric back to it.
Options:* Solar Grid-Tie Battery Backup * Solar Grid-Tie Battery Backup with Generator Charging Station (Propane or Natural gas charging) * Hybrid Grid-Tie Battery Backup (Can have a combination of solar, wind, hydro, or generator power. * Solar Grid-Tie Battery Backup with Low voltage lighting * Off-Grid power system (Can be Hyrdo, Wind, Solar, Gas or Propane Generator backup system)
Please note that all of our systems are custom designed to your specific specifications. We have been designing and installing these for many years and have had great success with them. Solar Energy Backup Systems can save your valuable food and make your home warm during a power failure. If you are looking to protect your investments, have little to no noise from not running a noisy generator when the utility is out, and have a diverse electric power generator, then let the power experts at Renewable Rochester design a system that is right for you!
Some of the questions we get are:
How long with these systems last? Answer: The solar panels will likely last for many decades, batteries 7-10 years, Inverter 10-15 years or more.
How much solar power will these systems generate? Answer: Some homes generate enough solar power to provide 100 percent of energy from the sun, while other only do a small percentage. Depending on your budget, roof space, yard area, and electric service size, will depend on the amount of power you generate.
How many circuits in my home can I put on the system? Answer: Typically we install six to eight circuits on the critical load center which is supported from the system. This can vary greatly depending on what the loads are.
How long will my batteries last during a power outage? Answer: Again, this depends on many factors including the amount of sunshine during the power outage, amount of usage on the critical load panel, and how old the system battery bank is. Typically these systems can last for many days if not weeks if used correctly and we have some sun. If you have inefficient appliances, hair dyers, incandescent lighting, dishwashers and other non essential items that really do not need to be run during a critical event, then the system will run for a much shorter period of time. If you are conservative in your energy usage you will last for many days or weeks. We have customers who have had their systems work through the Buffalo Ice Storm, North East Blackout, and many other power outages.
Can I get rebates or tax credits? Answer: Yes, since these are connected in parallel with the utility grid, they can be eligible for tax credits and incentives in most cases.
Can I have multiple charging systems working with this system? Answer: Yes. These are very versatile systems and have many options. You can charge them with solar, wind, natural gas generators, propane generators, hyro generators, and many other means of power generation.
