Solar Teachers

Solar Teachers Program and renewable energy learning

The Solar Teachers program pictured below are students actually installing equipment that will provide their building with solar energy and a net zero footprint. These BOCES students are learning the value of renewable energy and how solar energy is becoming a part of a growing trend of renewable energy jobs across New York State!!

Students Installing Solar at BOCES

Renewable Rochester and our Solar Education Teachers programs provide solar learning kits for renewable energy curriculum. With these solar educational kits we can show students the values of solar energy, provide hands on ways to see real world applications, and have students have fun learning just how solar can be a viable renewable energy resource toward our future!

We also give tours of our educational center located at 780 Ridge Road in Webster, New York. Here you will see some of the renewable energy products that are available to the general public such as the different types of solar panels, wind energy systems, energy monitoring systems, remote stand along power units.

Our educational products will show students how they can put real live solar units to work in real world applications such as creating solar energy from solar panels that power batteries, make your popcorn on a field trip, make smoothies while on your picnic, pump water for your solar green house, light up your favorite school sign with solar lighting, and many other applications. Show how your organization, girl or boy scout troop, is promoting and learning about renewable energy today!

Renewable Rochester also has a National Solar Tour home located in Brockport New York. Here you can visit and learn what things your home can do to become green, and use the natural resources of the sun to become sustainable.

If you would like a tour of either the Renewable Educational Center located in Webster New York, or the National Solar Tour home located in Brockport, New York please contact us at Renewable Rochester.

Not only does the Solar Teachers program help to promote solar education, but others such as Boy Scout Leaders, Cub Scout Leaders, Girl Scout Leaders, 4H volunteers, or other outdoor programs or groups are encouraged to call if you are interested in our educational units! We have student volunteers to help build these units and teach them some of the skills necessary for building a renewable energy career.

Rochester Institute of Technology Solar Electric

Shawn Lessord teaching students about solar electric

Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) students are designing and constructing ebike charging stations for campus. These bikes will be both peddle, and electric motor dc powered bikes. Each station will have SunPower SPR-240ACPV modules to perform a dual purpose of both charging the bikes on board battery, and also to put excess power onto the grid during non charging times!
